Shame the companies
We are constantly collecting examples of marketing to children, such as the ones in our Image gallery. If you see examples, take a picture and send them to us.

Here are two questions you need to ask before you take the shot:images/stories/junkfoods/esquimau50.png

1. Is the food unhealthy? The definition by the UK Food Standard Agency Guidelines can help. See the table in our "What is unhealthy"? section.

2. Are any of the common marketing tactics used? We have described them in Types of marketing.

Hold your own Lunch Box Challenge
As part of World Consumer Rights Day 2008, many CI member organisations held Lunchbox challenges in schools or community centres in their area – and so can you.

With a Lunchbox challenge, a group of children are asked to choose their favourite items for their lunchbox from a range of branded and non-branded, and healthy and unhealthy products. Afterwards, the kids are asked, what influenced their choices.images/stories/happy kids/50 percent/purpleH-50.png
